How Did Mississippi Blues Legend B.B. King Guitar Get The Name Lucille

Legendary king of the blues artist B.B. King continues to give fans a lifetime experience during his concerts. Age seem to have no effect on the 86 year blues artist. He and Lucille have been traveling the roads for over 5 decades and retirement does not seem anywhere close. So, the question is, how did the famous $30 Gibson acoustic guitar known as Lucille get her name.

Mr. King states that while playing in a dance hall in Arkansas, two men got into a fist fight and while fighting they knocked over a kerosene stove and started a huge fire. Like everyone else B.B. raced outside for safety, but when he got outside he realized he didn't have his guitar. Risking his life, he rushes back into the burning building to retrieve the guitar. When he made it back to safety he found out why this fight that almost caused him his life  had happened.

The two men were tearing at eachother over a woman. The name of this woman was Lucille. B.B. decided that he would name after this woman to remind himself never to do a crazy thing like fight over a woman. Now each Gibson he has own afterwards has had the famous name LUCILLE.
